Line Pipe Cross Section

Calculate pipe internal and external diameter, cross section area and EI from pipe schedule diameter and wall thickness.

Use the Result Table option to display the results for the selected pipe diameter. For multi layer pipes (line pipe with outside layers and or inside layers), the results for each layer are displayed in the output view at the bottom of the page. Change the number of layers on the setup page.

CALCULATOR : Line Pipe EI And Section Modulus (Multi Layer Pipe) [FREE]   ±

Calculate line pipe EI (ExI), second area moment (I), and Z modulus for multi layer pipelines.

Only include the Young's modulus value for the layers which will contribute to EI. The second area moment (I) and Z modulus are calculated for the line pipe. The stiffness of the other layers is included, and is factored by the relative stiffness of the layer. The Z modulus is calculated at the line pipe outside diameter and at the mid wall.

Tool Input

  • schdtype : Line Pipe Schedule Type
  • diamtype : Line Pipe Diameter Type
    • ODu : User Defined Outside Diameter
    • IDu : User Defined Inside Diameter
  • wtntype : Line Pipe Wall Thickness Type
    • tnu : User Defined Wall Thickness
