Line Pipe Unit Mass And Weight

Calculate pipe unit mass (mass per length), unit weight (weight per length), and total mass from pipe schedule diameter and wall thickness.

Use the Result Table option to display the results for the selected pipe diameter. For multi layer pipes (line pipe with outside layers and or inside layers), the results for each layer are displayed in the output view at the bottom of the page. Change the number of layers on the setup page.

Calculate line pipe EI (ExI), unit mass and unit weight for multi layer pipelines.

The concrete stiffness factor is used to account for the effect of the concrete layer. The concrete stiffness factor is calculated from the ratio of concrete EI over beam EI. The concrete stiffness factor is calculated in accordance with DNVGL RP F105. Only include the Young's modulus value for the layers which will contribute to EI. The unit weight can be calculated for dry empty, dry full, wet empty and wet full pipe.

Calculate plastic pipe unit mass and total mass (construction quantities) from pipe length, diameter, either wall thickness or dimension ratio, and density.

Select the pipe schedule (NPS or ISO), pipe diameter and wall thickness or dimension ratio (SDR or SIDR), or use the user defined option. The dimension ratio is calculated from the pressure design wall thickness (nominal wall thickness minus fabrication allowance and mechanical allowance). Use the Result Table option to display the pipe schedule with unit mass and total mass for the selected diameter.

Calculate typical line pipe elastic modulus, shear modulus, bulk modulus, density, and thermal expansion coefficient of a solid.

The table values of Poisson ratio and bulk modulus are calculated from the elastic modulus and shear modulus. Project specific data should be used if it is available. Use the Result Table option to display a table of properties versus material type.
