CALCULATOR : ASME B31.1 Section 102.3 Pipe W Weld Joint Factor From Temperature [FREE]   ±

Calculate the pipe weld joint reduction factor W from the maximum temperature (ASME B31.1 table 102.4.7). For carbon steel the weld joint reduction factor is 1.0.

For other materials, the weld joint reduction factor is interpolated from table 102.4.7.

Note : The calculated weld joint factors are not valid if the metal temperature is greater than the temperature range in appendix A for that particular material.

Tool Input

  • wfactype : Weld Factor Type
    • Wu : User Defined W Factor
    • Tcr : User Defined Creep Temperature
  • T : Design Temperature

Tool Output

  • W : Weld Factor

CALCULATOR : ASME B31.1 Section 102.4 Pipe Bend Wall Thickness [FREE]   ±

Calculate pipe bend minimum required wall thickness and estimated wall thickness after thinning. (ASME B31.1 section 102.4).

Enter the straight pipe diameter and nominal wall thickness (before thinning). The estimated wall thickness after thinning should be greater than or equal to the minimum required wall thickness on the outside radius. The bend thinning allowance is based on table 102.4.5. Use the goal seek option to calculate the required straight pipe nominal wall thickness for the minimum bend thickness (after thinning).

The thinning allowance is an estimate for the minimum thickness at the outside radius. The actual wall thickness measurements should be checked at the mid span of the bend on the inside bend radius (intrados), the outside bend radius (extrados), and the bend center line radius.
