AS 2885.1 Pipeline Collapse Pressure

Calculate AS 2885.1 pipeline collapse pressure and collapse water depth for wet pipeline sections.

Collapse pressure checks are only required for wet pipeline sections, or other cases where external pressure is applied.

CALCULATOR : AS 2885.1 Section 5.4.5 Pipeline External Collapse Presssure [PLUS]   ±

Calculate pipeline external collapse pressure and collapse water depth from wall thickness and ovality (AS 2885.1 section 5.4.5).

Collapse pressure is calculated from the elastic collapse pressure and the plastic collapse pressure. The AS 2885.1 ovality factor is equal to two times the API ovality factor.

CALCULATOR : AS 2885.1 Section 5.4.3 Pipeline Allowable Stress [FREE]   ±

Calculate pipeline allowable stress from specified minimum yield stress (SMYS) and design factor (AS 2885.1 section 5.4.3).

Use the Result Table option to display a table of SMYS and allowable stress versus material grade for the selected material schedule.

Tool Input

  • syutype : Line Pipe Stress Type
  • mattype : Material Type
    • SMYSu : User Defined Specified Minimum Yield Stress
  • dfactype : Allowable Stress Factor Type

CALCULATOR : AS 2885.1 Pipeline Diameter And Wall Thickness Schedule [FREE]   ±

Calculate AS 2885.1 pipeline diameter and wall thickness.

The pressure design wall thickness is equal to the nominal wall thickness minus the corrosion allowance. The fabrication allowance is accounted for in the design factor (an additional fabrication allowance is required in some cases). Select the pipe schedule (NPS or ISO etc), pipe diameter and wall thickness, or use the user defined option. Use the Result Table option to display the pipe schedule with nominal wall thickness and pressure design wall thickness for the selected diameter.

Tool Input

  • schdtype : Line Pipe Schedule Type
  • diamtype : Line Pipe Diameter Type
    • ODu : User Defined Outside Diameter
    • IDu : User Defined Inside Diameter
  • wtntype : Wall Thickness Type
    • tnu : User Defined Wall Thickness
  • c : Wall Thickness Corrosion Allowance

Tool Output

  • ID : Nominal Inside Diameter
  • OD : Nominal Outside Diameter
  • OD/tn : Diameter Over Wall Thickness Ratio
  • tn : Nominal Wall Thickness
  • tp : Pressure Design Wall Thickness
