DNVGL RP C203 Fatigue Stress Concentration Factor

Calculate DNVGL-RP-C203 stress concentration factor (SCF).

The SCF accounts for local hot spots caused by geometry or other factors. Some of the SN curves contain an embedded stress concentration factor.

CALCULATOR : DNVGL RP C203 Section 2.10 Pipeline Weld Stress Concentration Factor [FREE]   ±

Calculate fatigue stress limit from fatigue limit cycles (DNVGL-RP-C203 section 2.11).

The fatigue stress limit is the stress threshold for the onset of fatigue damage. For cyclic stress values below the fatigue limit, a fatigue check is not required. For accumulated damage (Miner's rule), the maximum stress must be less than the faigue limit. The fatigue limit only applies for carbon steel and some other materials, and for certain conditions. For other cases the fatigue limit does not apply.

Tool Input

  • scftype : Stress Concentration Factor Type
  • Lcap : Weld Cap Width
  • Lroot : Weld Root Width
  • δ : Pipe Weld Offset
  • t : Pipe Nominal Wall Thickness
  • D : Pipe Nominal Diameter

Tool Output

  • δ/t : Weld Offset Over Pipe Wall Thickness Ratio
  • SCF : Stress Concentration Factor
